During the hengi leadership event of 18 september and 03 october 2013, I realized how fundamental it is today to get back a gift that has always characterized leadership.
I received this gift the first time, passionately interested in the life and ideas of Walt Disney. For him it was essential to build a business system on the idea of making children dream in a world dedicated exclusively to adults. For Disney it was essential that every element of the company should be directed to the top value of its entrepreneurship: the dream. So a fun park, a film production, cartoons or a board of directors were inspired to dream together. His desire was to see, through his company, children and adults dream together a better world than reality. That made Disney happy.
Such a gift is the “dreaming together”, rather to say fantasizing.
To fantasize means to make “fantastic”, that is of a higher value, the gift of our dreams to people who want to dream, to live their own fantasy.
Successful entrepreneurs and general managers who, thanks to our business, all have this great gift. Everyone has opened a company or accepted a challenging assignment because it is ambitious in realizing a dream that changes people’s lives for the better.
Such leaders are able, by giving their dream to others, to make people dream that, every day, they believe, create and grow the vision of making the world a better place. People feel better “people” because they are safe and able to dare for improvement, that is, for perspective and prosperity.
Dreaming protects two essential values of human nature:
Love for oneself (self-esteem) and for others (altruism) to be, in the enterprise, a special organization in making reality shared and exchanged happiness, as a result of maximum usefulness for all. Freedom because in the community every individuality has the opportunity to exalt its own qualities, without having to change its being and, consequently, its own ideas.
When an organization is motivated to be happy and to realize the happiness of others, the leader’s masterpiece can be considered achieved.
A masterpiece that must be inspired, disseminated and protected every day. Fantasizing is the greatest gift we can give our employees, suppliers and customers today. Giving our dream allows us to claim the dream of those who, like us, want to live the work as a great opportunity of shared and realized utility.
This is why losing your challenging entrepreneurial vision and not continually relaunching it, involving the organization and the market, can be considered the great missed opportunity of leadership in today’s context. Widespread leadership is achieved by dreaming and dreaming with our organization, our suppliers and our customers a challenging project shared and motivating that will improve people’s lives.
Fantasizing will mean smiling towards positive economic and social change. Fantasizing will make every aspect of our business and business life fantastic.
We fantasize, because only in this way can we give maximum value to our ideas, actions and results and grow a new world context where the man with his dreams is, finally, at the centre.
